Associate Regulatory Adviser

Company: Health Food Manufacturers’ Association (HFMA)

Reports to: Senior Regulatory Adviser
Type: Full time, Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm Permanent, after completing 6 months probation period
Location: Remote working, but expected to attend occasional meetings in London and Surrey
Salary Range: £28,000 – £32,000

 

Job description

Purpose

  • To operate the HFMA code of advertising practice and give advice to members and non-members on the composition, labelling and advertising of food, food supplements, herbal products, cosmetics and other associated products, and related regulatory issues.
  • Support the Senior Regulatory Adviser and Regulatory Adviser in providing a professional member and non-member user experience.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Operating the HFMA code of advertising practice.
  • Review label copy, advertising copy, literature, promotional material, etc primarily about food supplements, but also general foods, herbal products, cosmetics and other associated products
  • Issue CLEAR CHECK approval stamp in line with HFMA code of advertising practice
  • Write detailed reports for reviews, liaising with clients by telephone, letter and email
  • Commenting on product formulations.
  • Issuing letters of compliance
  • Keeping up to date with relevant EU/UK legislation and relevant regulatory matters
  • Commenting on relevant consultations from FSA/MHRA/DEFRA etc. Regularly researching for the latest relevant information
  • Reviewing the internal Regulatory Compliance Process (RCP) enquiries
  • Key account/membership management
  • Actively always promote CLEAR CHECK
  • Assist with preparing guidance notes on various aspects of legislation
  • Attending relevant internal and external meetings
  • Attending industry trade shows
  • Assisting with delivering talks at workshops/seminars
  • Assisting with running training seminars
  • Record hours billed for invoicing and maintaining the billing system
  • SalesForce management
  • Miscellaneous tasks related to administration and accounts on an ad hoc basis

Role requirements:

The successful candidate will need to have prior experience directly in this industry sector, and of relevant EU/UK food law and other regulatory matters. Excellent communication and writing skills are an essential requirement, as is the ability to work effectively in a small but efficient team.

The position is based on remote working, but employees are expected to attend meetings in Central London and beyond, according to the needs of the Association, and are expected to attend the HFMA Head Office in Surrey approximately once a month.
